We spoke to the man RPG about what inspired him to create these Depeche Mode mixes:
I was actually inspired by the Pink Floyd compilation “Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd”. I noticed that the engineer on that album blended/faded each song into each other to create a sort of concept album. I thought this was a pretty neat idea and felt I should try the same thing with Depeche Mode’s catalogue. So I made Volume I around the beginning of 2006 and have been on a roll ever since. The first seven volumes were made without beatmatching programs, but really helped to hone my skills in technique and transitioning. All subsequent volumes are beatmatched, which has made them infinitely more listenable. I’m currently working on Volume XV, which is going to be a massive 2XCD project that I will hopefully complete in a couple of months and which will be a follow-up to Volume XIV.
